How We Curate Art

Want to know how we curate art? Our mission each time is to find pieces that customers will be proud to display in their homes. Follow along to learn the steps we take to discover the best art for our customers.

Have you ever wondered how we curate the artwork for GoodWood? Every auction and estate sale we visit is an opportunity to discover high-quality pieces that our customers will be proud to display in their homes.

A key part of our process is cutting through the noise to uncover artwork that is unique, affordable, and truly worth having. Over the years, we’ve developed a system to help us filter out the clutter.

Follow along to discover what we look for to ensure only the highest quality and most unique pieces make it back to our store.

How we curate

Original work

At GoodWood, we prioritize original artwork created by real people—whether they're seasoned professionals or emerging artists. Paintings, lithographs, photographs, prints, and watercolors that carry the artist's personal touch and unique vision are always preferred over mass-produced commercial art. There's something special about owning a one-of-a-kind piece, knowing it was crafted with intention and creativity. We believe that original art brings authenticity and character into any space.

Signed or Numbered Work

There's something particularly meaningful about owning a piece of art that has been signed or numbered by the artist. It adds an extra layer of authenticity and connection, giving you a tangible link to the creator’s vision and process. Signed or numbered works are often limited in production, making them even more special and rare. Whether it's a limited-edition print or a one-of-a-kind painting, we always value artwork that carries this personal signature or numbering, as it elevates the piece from beautiful decor to a true collectible.

The Medium

When it comes to selecting artwork, oil on canvas is always at the top of our list for its timeless appeal and rich, textured finish. However, we also have a deep appreciation for the versatility and vibrancy of acrylics, as well as the delicate, fluid beauty of watercolors. You'll find these mediums showcased on a variety of surfaces, including traditional canvas, wood panels, and textured paper, ensuring a diverse and exciting collection that caters to every taste. Each medium brings its own unique qualities to a work of art, and we love offering a diverse range to suit every style and space.

Collections

We love the impact that collections can make, whether it's a series of works by a single artist or a cohesive group of pieces centered around a specific theme, like florals or landscapes. These curated collections bring a sense of continuity and depth to any space, making them perfect for gallery walls or feature displays in your home. When we find multiple works by an artist or a subject, we know they’ll create a striking visual narrative that draws people in, allowing the story to unfold piece by piece.

Exhibition Posters

Exhibition posters featuring iconic artists like Picasso, Georgia O'Keeffe, and the great Impressionists are always a favorite. These pieces offer an accessible way to bring the work of renowned artists into your home while celebrating the rich history of art exhibitions. Whether vintage or contemporary, these posters carry both artistic and historical significance, making them highly sought-after. We're always on the lookout for these gems, knowing they'll be a perfect addition to any collection or as a standout piece in any space.

At GoodWood, we hope it's apparent that we take the time to curate our art with pieces that are truly worth it. Whether it's original paintings, signed works, curated collections, or sought-after exhibition posters, we take pride in offering pieces that bring beauty, uniqueness, and authenticity into your home.

Each artwork we choose tells a story and adds a personal touch to any space. We invite you to explore our carefully selected collection and find the perfect piece that resonates with your style and spirit.
